Athletics

Athletics is another highlight of the year. Athletics is a great way to teach the importance of RESILIENCE and value of never giving up. Our learners will compete in high jump, long jump, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and House relays. Our champions from each age group are then selected to represent our school at the Northern Wairoa regionals held in Dargaville.

Cross Country

Due to our rural location, we are able to host REAL cross countries. There’s no running around the streets here. Our learners need to dodge cow patties and prickly gorse bushes, jump over drains, climb up steep cow races and slide down muddy slopes. We believe that our cross countries add to our uniqueness as a community.

Swimming

We are fortunate enough to have two of our own swimming pools. Our learners will receive swimming lessons every day during term 1, and the second half of term 4. We also participate in the Sealord Swim 4 Life programme. Our school enjoys many benefits through our involvement in the Sealord Swim for Life programme. Our learners strive to receive a passport that has nine milestones. The ultimate goal is to be able to swim 200m. It also includes survival skills and water safety tips.
